# Antarctica

Antarctica at Freigelände der Archenhold-Sternwarte, Monday 26 October 2026, 11:45.

»Antarctica 3D« is a 45-minute BBC Earth documentary about Earth's most extreme continent, narrated by Benedict Cumberbatch. Diving beneath sea ice over three meters thick, it shows thousands of purple sea stars, jellyfish, playful seals, huge penguin colonies and the largest gathering of fin and humpback whales ever filmed. Director Fredi Devas's film also explains the vital role the Antarctic and Southern Ocean play in regulating currents, sea level and carbon storage, and how this pristine land of snow and ice is warming fast. The production is shown in Germany exclusively at the Zeiss-Großplanetarium in spectacular 3D.
