# Die Teufel

Die Teufel at Sommerkino Kulturforum, Thursday 29 October 2026.

„Die Teufel - Director's Cut“ is a cinema film set in 17th-century France: the priest Urbain Grandier is famous in Loudun for his sermons and affairs and openly opposes the cardinal's plans for power. Behind convent walls, the abbess Sister Jeanne develops an obsessive passion for him; when she accuses him of witchcraft, the town sinks into exorcisms, hysteria and political scheming. Ken Russell directed, adapting Aldous Huxley's „Die Teufel von Loudun“ in what remains one of the most radical reckonings with church and power. Vanessa Redgrave and Oliver Reed star.
