Govardhan Puja is a special festival at the Jagannatha Temple Berlin, featuring a festively decorated representation of Govardhan Hill. The festival recalls the words of the Srimad-Bhagavatam, which say that Govardhan Hill provides Sri Krishna and Balarama as well as their calves, cows and herding boys with all necessities. To this end the hill offers drinkable water, very soft grass, caves, fruits, flowers and roots. In this way the hill shows its reverence to the brothers, being happily touched by the touch of their lotus feet.
