# Frankenstein

Frankenstein at Old Operating Theatre Museum, Tuesday 27 October 2026, 18:30.

An after-hours Halloween screening of the 1931 horror classic Frankenstein inside the Old Operating Theatre Museum, home to one of the oldest surviving operating theatres in Europe. Directed by James Whale and starring Colin Clive, Mae Clarke and Boris Karloff, the film is based on Mary Shelley's 1818 novel and follows the ambitious scientist Henry Frankenstein as he attempts to create life, with terrifying consequences. Its themes of scientific experimentation, anatomy and the boundaries of medical knowledge make it a fitting choice for the historic setting. Visitors can arrive early to take in the museum's atmosphere and explore its collections before the film.
