Major is a new political drama staged at the Olivier - National Theatre on the South Bank. Playwright James Graham, a three-time Olivier Award winner, chronicles John Major's rapid rise from obscure Whip to Prime Minister, taking over from Margaret Thatcher in 1990 during a pivotal moment for the UK. Directed by Jeremy Herrin, the play blends history with storytelling and asks what true leadership looks like during times of change, a question as urgent to modern-day Britain as it was in the nineties.
