Retribution is a 2006 ghost story by Japanese director Kiyoshi Kurosawa. A seasoned detective, played by Kōji Yakusho, investigates a series of murders across a waterlogged expanse of ruin and construction, while the ghost of a murder victim burrows into his mind and house and an earthquake threatens to slide the city into the sea. The screening is presented by the editors of Narrow Margin, a quarterly magazine of film criticism, in anticipation of its fifth issue, which pairs Kurosawa with one of his most important influences, Richard Fleischer. It will be introduced by Narrow Margin editor Hicham Awad.
