About
A chamber concert bringing together baritone Benjamin Appl and the Jerusalem Quartet at Wigmore Hall, titled "World and Dreams". Appl, counted among the finest baritones of his generation and a student of Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, is known as a thoughtful programme builder. The evening opens with Schumann's melodramatic Belsatzar, a spine-tingling ballad recalling Belshazzar's feast from the Book of Daniel, and ventures into the world, past and present, and beyond into the infinite cosmos of dreams. The programme features music by Schumann, Brahms, Mahler, Barber, Webern and Weill.
