About

A feature film about a teacher and rowing coach who, in the late 1950s in Ratzeburg, puts a group of young outsiders into an eight-oared racing shell and gives them more than an outlet: a perspective. Under the shadows of the Cold War, the team battles exhaustion, old questions of guilt and officials of elite rowing who mock and sabotage him. With unwavering resolve, the coach shapes these underdogs into a crew set to cause a sporting sensation at the 1960 Olympic Games. A moving drama about courage, solidarity and the fight against borders, starring Oliver Masucci, Felix Kammerer, Svenja Jung and Leonard Kunz, directed by Hannu Salonen.

Critics

The critic praises the film's polished look and watchable staging, but faults its fairy-tale naivety, schematic characters and lack of depth.
