Atalanta Komponistinnen Festival

The Atalanta Komponistinnen Festival is a three-day festival of chamber music by women composers from different centuries, from the Byzantine composer Kassia via Baroque and Romantic music into the 20th and 21st centuries. It is curated by Fidan Aghayeva-Edler, who organises it in cooperation with Kultur Büro Elisabeth. The twenty-hour programme with nine Berlin ensembles features three world premieres, concerts, lunchtime concerts and a music-and-text performance centred on the mythological huntress Atalanta, the festival's namesake. The festival stands for a pluralistic musical landscape and for women composers as the core of a contemporary musical canon.
