An exhibition of photographs by American artist Carrie Mae Weems at Galerie Barbara Thumm. It is the gallery's fourth exhibition with Weems, whose work spans photography, film and installation and engages with the social and political questions of the present. The show centres on her series Seaside, in which she photographs herself from behind on a single beach facing the ocean's horizon, and The Law of Diminishing Returns, five oval-framed photographs that evoke the passage of human bodies across the ocean from the transatlantic slave trade to contemporary migration. The works on view are in dialogue with her film The Long Goodbye, commissioned for the opening of the V&A East in London.
