About

Chorus is a sound installation that turns the Nikolaikirche in Berlin into a sound body visitors can move through. It is a work by the artist Annika Kahrs, whose practice centres on the functions of music and on how sound shapes social contexts. Beginning on the hour outside the building, the piece leads through seven stations, from the carillon and entrance area via the organ and chancel to the interior of the church. Field recordings made in Berlin districts and compositions by Louis d’Heudières make the church a resonance chamber for the city.
