Eine Krankheit wie ein Gedicht is a documentary about the director's father, who repeatedly suffers drug-induced psychoses, is sobered up in psychiatric wards and then sinks into depressive shame. Jelena Ilić shows him not only as a perpetrator whose violence she deeply condemns, but also as a person she loves and an artist she admires, who captured his psychoses and inner worlds in photographs, paintings and sculptures. Together they fill a comic book with drawings in which their relationship is also documented. The multiple audience award winner tells, full of warmth and humour, of reversed parent-child roles, the poetry in chaos and coming to terms with an illness.
