About

„freihand. Schrift, Schule, Gemeinschaft“ is an exhibition at the Mitte Museum. Calligraphies from an art course at the Herbert-Hoover-Schule are on show next to twenty handwritten booklets that children of the 308. Gemeindeschule am Leopoldplatz wrote, drew and bound themselves between 1926 and 1928. The calligraphies came out of the 2025 project Calliversity with the artist Daniel Arab, where Hella Mittrücker and Ingolf Watzlaw taught the class how to work with pen and ink. A new community newspaper made by the same pupils from the old booklets lies beside the originals.
