About
A talk and discussion evening on newborn screening: how a drop of blood can detect rare, serious illnesses in babies early, and how new genomic technologies will change this screening. It is organised by the Alliance for Chronic Rare Diseases (ACHSE e.V.) as part of Berlin Science Week. Experts from medicine, research and patient advocacy look back on the screening's development, explain how it works, and discuss with the audience the benefits, burdens and costs of early detection. The event takes place in the auditorium of House S and is accessible.
