Gier
Christopher Rüping: A play about love turned consumer good.
Deutsches Theater, Schumannstraße 13a, 10117 Berlin, Mitte
About
"Gier" is a theatre evening at the Deutsches Theater based on the theatrical long poem by British playwright Sarah Kane. Director Christopher Rüping turns the text into a theatrical experiment: while Maja Beckmann, Benjamin Lillie, Sasha Melroch and Steven Sowah speak, Wiebke Mollenhauer visibly reacts to it. The piece reflects the longing for love and security in a society in which romance has become a consumer product. The much-awarded production was created at the Schauspielhaus Zürich and has been taken over here.
