About
Jeffrey Lewis + Mumbles is a concert of indie-rock, folk and art-song at the Berlin venue Neue Zukunft. Behind the project is songwriter and comic book artist Jeffrey Lewis, who began recording homemade cassettes in New York City in 1998. His unusual, word-dense songs led him to sign to Rough Trade Records in 2001, the label of The Smiths and The Strokes, and his band Jeffrey Lewis & The Voltage grew into a worldwide live touring cult sensation. Their scuzzy urban indie-rock-folk is described as a 21st-century mash-up of Sonic Youth, Pete Seeger and R. Crumb, and the band has opened for icons like the Mountain Goats, Daniel Johnston, Pulp and Dinosaur Jr.
