Metaxy : Zwischen Zerstörung und Wiederaufbau

"Metaxy : Zwischen Zerstörung und Wiederaufbau" is an exhibition with an accompanying programme of talks, performances and guided tours. It is a project by the Akademie der Künste together with the magazine ARCH+, looking at the uncertain interval between destruction and reconstruction, when societies have not yet settled how to deal with loss, guilt and memory. Metaxy is ancient Greek for "between" and names a space in which past and future, loss and hope are effective at the same time. Works by artists and architects from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Germany, Israel, Yemen, Palestine, Poland, Sudan, Syria, Ukraine and the USA are shown within an exhibition architecture that retraces the former layout of the site at 1:1, with the musical ZWISCHENSTÜCKEN weaving through the rooms.
