"Read the Room: Buch am Mittwoch" is a reading series at the Roter Salon where selected authors of prose, poetry and non-fiction present themselves and their writing practice on the occasion of their book premieres and meet their readership. The series with a new title but a long tradition at the Volksbühne – from Nachtcafé, Lesezone, Lesebühne, Literatur, most recently Parole Text:Buch – enters its next round. It asks what authorship means today: books under surveillance by the domestic intelligence service, books on TikTok, books in the age of AI – authors at their desks, on the pulse of the times, with a readership in constant flux.
