About
„Schwedische Moderne“ is the first comprehensive exhibition of Swedish Modernism in Germany, shown at the Brücke-Museum. It presents paintings and drawings by artists such as Sigrid Hjertén and Isaac Grünewald, who were celebrated in 1915 at Berlin's Sturm-Galerie as „Schwedische Expressionisten“. The focus is on the groups De Unga, De åtta and the Göteborger Kolorist*innen, who, like the Brücke artists, sought to break away from academic traditions. The works come from the collection of the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, most of them on view in Germany for the first time.
