The Librarians

"The Librarians" is a documentary about librarians in the USA standing up against a wave of book bans. The film by Kim A. Snyder accompanies their fight against censorship and for free access to knowledge, documenting their personal commitment to democracy and informational freedom. It shows how well-organised Christian-nationalist lobby groups push censorship attempts forward with legal means, and who supports them politically and financially, including the "Moms for Liberty". After the film there will be an opportunity for exchange.

8.5Outstanding

Critics praise the urgent, gripping portrait of librarians fighting book bans and its striking visual style. Some fault a hectic pace and lacking analytical depth.
