Aria

A screening of the rarely shown film ARIA, an operatic anthology of ten short films by ten directors, each set to a favourite aria as its soundtrack. It is presented by Pink Palace, a relaxed weekly queer film club held in the basement bar, where curator Andrew Woodyatt introduces each film and chatting afterwards is encouraged. The film mixes costumed dramas, gritty urban thrillers, fantasy scenarios and love stories set to great opera arias, and once baffled critics who dismissed it as "MTV does opera" despite its avant garde directors. It is described as super camp, a comedic dream and an auditory and visual feast.
