About
A live concert by Cud at Dingwalls in London. The Leeds band emerged from the same art and design scene as Soft Cell, Scritti Politti and The Mekons, making fun-loving, catchy indie rock led by Carl Puttnam's deep voice, Mike Dunphy's edgy guitars and a tight rhythm section of William Potter on bass and Gogs Byrn on drums. Known for a quirky Peel session cover of You Sexy Thing in 1987, they built a huge live following, released the 1990 album Leggy Mambo, and scored Top 30 hits with Rich and Strange and Purple Love Balloon. After splitting in 1995, they reunited in 2012 with original guitarist Mike Dunphy and still draw crowds eager to sing along and dance.
