About

A documentary about the Gaza Strip, where since October 7, 2023 independent international press access has been effectively impossible, and the AFP staff reporters who documented the conflict from within. Directed by Hélène Lam Trong, it follows Mai Yaghi, Adel Zaanun, Mohammed Abed, Mahmud Hams and Yahya Hassuna, who reported, photographed and filmed as bombs fell around them. Now forced into exile, they reflect on what they endured and on the near-impossible task of covering the deadliest war ever recorded for journalists.

Critics

The critic finds unseen footage striking and haunting, especially the early images. Yet the review faults the film for being less a testament to journalistic tenacity than a marker of the press's failure, its message undermined by what it documents.
