About

King John is a Shakespeare history play staged at the candlelit Sam Wanamaker Playhouse, one of the playwright's rarely performed works about the harsh realities of power and politics. Director Jaz Woodcock-Stewart, an Olivier nominee behind Paradise Now! at the Bush Theatre, makes her Globe directorial debut with the piece. When King Richard the Lionheart dies, his brother John takes the throne, but faces challenges from France, Prince Arthur's claim, and Richard's bastard son, leading to war and chaos as he goes to any lengths to keep the crown.
