About
Ravenous is a historical horror comedy-drama in which Captain John Boyd and his regiment at a remote 19th-century military outpost embark on a rescue mission that takes a dark turn when they are ambushed by a sadistic cannibal. It was made by director Antonia Bird and came out in 1999, with Guy Pearce, Robert Carlyle and David Arquette in the cast. The screening was proposed for the programme by a member of the cinema, who calls it a hugely underrated, creepy and entertaining favourite with excellent performances and one of the most unique scores she has ever heard, by Damon Albarn and Michael Nyman. The film runs 101 minutes.

Critics
6.3Good
Praise centers on the unique tonal blend of horror and dark humor, the strong cast, the eclectic score, and the film's original, unsettling atmosphere, now appreciated as a cult favorite. Critics fault its uneven mix of genres, gory and distasteful content, and a tone that confused mainstream audiences and led to commercial failure.
