About

Sylvia is a musical about the life of the feminist and socialist activist Sylvia Pankhurst, daughter of Emmeline Pankhurst. It was created by Kate Prince (ZooNation) and Priya Parmar, with music by Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, and stars Naomi Katiyo as Sylvia alongside Beverley Knight as Emmeline. The story runs from Sylvia's painful childhood and the loss of her father and brother to her split with her mother's activism, her struggle to keep her pacifism amid misogynist threats and police brutality, and her clash with Churchill's government. Set to an Olivier Award-winning soundtrack fusing hip hop, funk, and soul, it has been called the next Hamilton.
