About
Habit is a screening of the 1995 film 'Habit', running 112 minutes and directed by Larry Fessenden, who also stars alongside Meredith Snaider, Aaron Beall, Patricia Coleman, Heather Woodbury and Jesse Hartman. Fessenden describes it as a personal story about addiction and obsession in New York City with an affectionate nod to vampire tropes, shot on 16mm by Frank DeMarco with a small crew on a low budget. Steeped in ambiguity, the film resonates with anyone who has suffered a breakup or felt overwhelmed by existential loneliness. It screens as part of the series Optic Nerve: A Tribute to Glass Eye Pix, with assistive listening and T-Coil accessibility.

Critics
8.2Very good
Critics praise the film's naturalistic, ambiguity-driven take on vampire material and its raw, lively portrait of New York loneliness. Some find the story generic and a few supporting performances mannered or too subtle.
