Simple Data Networks for Multidisciplinary Artists
NYC Resistor, 11217 Brooklyn, Brooklyn
About
Simple Data Networks for Multidisciplinary Artists is a beginner-friendly, 95% code-free workshop on connecting separate software tools and devices using OSC, a widely supported real-time communication protocol. It is taught by Yonatan Rozin, a multidisciplinary interactive technologist, prototyper, educator and classically-trained percussionist based in New York City, and organized by NYC Resistor. Participants work in pairs to send and receive OSC messages between devices and mix different tools together, exploring examples like sensor inputs, machine-learning-driven sculptures, wireless controllers and audience participation via smartphones. It is intended for multidisciplinary artists and curious experimentalists, who should bring a laptop and a smartphone; the class is 18+ and masks optional.
