About
Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the Ruben Coca Quartet, an event pairing a jazz and Latin jazz performance with an interactive percussion workshop. The quartet is led by jazz drummer, composer, and arranger Ruben Coca, and plays soulful renditions of jazz and Latin jazz standards alongside original compositions with rhythms of salsa, rumba, and more. In the workshop, Ruben Coca explores how rhythm is part of our everyday lives, featuring body percussion and Latin rhythms such as rumba clave, son clave, and guaguancó before the band demonstrates how they come to life in an ensemble. The program is in English and welcomes adults, kids, teens, and seniors.
