Barbara Forever

«Barbara Forever» is a portrait film about the American experimental filmmaker Barbara Hammer, a pioneer of a decidedly female and queer cinema. Brydie O’Connor’s feature debut, which Hammer helped shape shortly before her death, tells of her life «in film» through works such as DYKETACTICS, AUDIENCE and NITRATE KISSES: her lesbian coming-out, plenty of sex and intimacy, her theory of the «cinema of touch» and her illness and dying. Archival material never shown before, her narrative voice and her life partner Florrie Burke as a second centre portray a trailblazer of lesbian-queer self-representation.
