Imagine Peace

Imagine Peace is a documentary about the hundred-year-old peace activist Edith Ballantyne, who looks back on a life in the service of peace. In 1938 she fled the Nazis from the Sudetenland to Canada at the age of 16, and later found her calling through the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF). In 1969 she became secretary general and later president of the WILPF, shaping international peace work through her cooperation with the United Nations, her commitment to nuclear disarmament and feminist perspectives. Directed by Fabian Chiquet, the film shows Edith in dialogue with activists such as Shirine Jurdi, Nina Potarska and Madeleine Rees, calling one last time for resistance against war, inequality and intolerance.
