Rebekka Steiger – Horsehair takes a long time to burn

Horsehair takes a long time to burn is a solo exhibition at Galerie Urs Meile in Zürich. Swiss artist Rebekka Steiger presents a new group of paintings and, for the first time, six photographs, developed after a seven-month residency in Beijing, in which animals, landscape, memory and mortality merge into unstable, emotionally charged scenes. Her works draw on the horse as a recurring figure in her practice and on encounters with landscapes from China and Kenya, while the photographs, Ice and Dust (2025), record glaciers in the Bernese Alps / UNESCO Jungfrau-Aletsch region closely cropped from above.
