About
"All that I left behind is here" is a solo performance presented as part of the Shape Festival. Polish choreographer and performer Romuald Krężel, who lives and works in Berlin, returns to his first dance experience – a free ballroom dance class at his primary school – and relearns styles such as cha-cha-cha, rumba and jive to examine aspects of classism in the performing arts. Echoed by ghostly figures and post-punk music, the audience is led through Krężel's past, culminating in a moving conversation with his mother about class, body, work, shame and dance. The performance uses spoken English and Polish with German translation and features loud sounds, strobe lights and fog.
