Backrooms

About

Backrooms – Everything Must Go (Extended Version) is a mystery horror by Kane Parsons based on an internet phenomenon, shown here in a version 15 minutes longer. Furniture store owner Clark one day falls in the basement of his store into a world that looks like the psychotic mirror image of his shop: endless, windowless corridors in musty nicotine yellow, which a POV handheld camera explores with him as the place grows ever more claustrophobic. The film expresses the contemporary feeling that in a world of big corporations and algorithms there is no outside, no room for action left, and also a timeless youthful bleakness in the face of the dreary adult life ahead. Chiwetel Ejiofor, Renate Reinsve and Mark Duplass star.
