Parasite

About

The film follows the Kim family, who scrape by on odd jobs in a cramped semi-basement apartment. When their son Ki-woo becomes a tutor to the wealthy Park family, the other Kims gradually find their way into the Parks' spacious house too, with ingenuity and forged references while keeping their family ties a secret. Their plan seems to be working, but the comfortable life rests on a web of lies that could collapse at any moment. Directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Song Kang-ho, Lee Sun-kyun and Cho Yeo-jeong, the film was released in 2019 and runs 132 minutes.

Critics

9.2Outstanding

Critics praise the inventive, brilliantly crafted tragicomedy about class inequality, its striking set design and precise dark humour. Some fault only the title's simplistic parasite metaphor for making the rich-versus-poor scheme too easy.
