"Burning" is a 2018 feature film by Lee Chang-dong. Young odd-job worker Jong-su runs into Hae-mi in Seoul, a woman he knew as a child, and looks after her cat while she travels to Africa. She returns with Ben, a wealthy, charming man whose effortless lifestyle both attracts and unsettles Jong-su. When Ben describes an unusual pastime and Hae-mi disappears, Jong-su starts looking for connections, and uncertainty gradually turns into obsession.

Critics
8.4Very good
Critics praise the acting, hypnotic mood and layered mystery, with several calling it a masterpiece. Some fault the second half for losing momentum and for a key character's long absence.
