The Heike Duncker Trio plays contemporary jazz on the border line between ethno and modern jazz. The group around drummer and composer Heike Duncker, with Roman Stolyar on piano and Joel Murtaugh on double bass, has played in changing line-ups since 2010. Its full evening program offers playful, idiosyncratic compositions in which the three instruments alternately take the lead. The pieces flirt with folklore, straight rhythms and crooked meters.
