Hubertusmesse
Dorfkirche Alt-Marzahn, Alt-Marzahn, 12685 Berlin, Marzahn
About
The Hubertus Mass is a church service in which traditional melodies played on the hunting horn form the liturgical music. The Brandenburg Parforce Horn Players of Berlin, a group of hunters, riders and dog handlers led by Maren Hoff, provide the musical accompaniment to the service of the word. The custom dates back to the Middle Ages, when a Holy Mass was celebrated on St Hubert's Day in honour of Saint Hubert, the patron saint of hunters. Many of the melodies and fanfares are over 300 years old and were passed down orally; content organisation: Jens Henningsen, direction: Pastor Dr. Joram Luttenberger.
