About

Liebermanns Welt is a documentation about the painter Max Liebermann and his family. It is presented by the Stiftung Brandenburger Tor in the Max Liebermann Haus, the townhouse at Pariser Platz that was rebuilt after being destroyed in the Second World War. The presentation traces Liebermann's career from a reviled painter to Germany's most successful champion of modern art around 1900, and also addresses the family's fate after the National Socialist takeover. From April 2026, new chapters on Martha Liebermann have been added to the documentation.
