About

"Pearls and Hooks" is a solo exhibition by the artist Laura Bruce at Zitadelle Spandau. It brings together her large-scale colored-pencil drawings, glaze-like ink paintings and colorfully finished ceramics. The artist, born in 1959 in East Orange, New Jersey, and living in Berlin, works at the productive intersection of figuration and abstraction. Her pictures draw on countless small drawings and ink sheets, combining fragments of the human body and evocative symbols into richly associative fields.
