About
„Stolpersteine putzen“ is an action in which the Stolpersteine embedded in Berlin's streets are cleaned. The Stolpersteine are a project by the artist Gunter Demnig commemorating people persecuted by the Nazis between 1933 and 1945. Each concrete cube with a brass plate is set into the pavement in front of the last freely chosen home of a persecuted person and shows that person's name and fate. Every single stone thus symbolizes the void created when a person was violently torn from their life by the Nazis.
