About

Amadeus is a play at the Noel Coward Theatre about the rivalry between court composer Antonio Salieri and the young prodigy Mozart. Written by Peter Shaffer and directed by Jeremy Herrin, it stars Michael Sheen as Salieri and Callum Scott Howells as Mozart. In Vienna, 1820, Salieri is driven wild with jealousy by Mozart's extraordinary gift and begins a dangerous obsession, launching a campaign to destroy the rival he both worships and despises. A breath-taking soundtrack of the composers' music fuels this electrifying story of ambition, betrayal, and the cost of greatness.
