An exhibition of new works by painter Jem Perucchini, titled "Sospiro", with an opening reception on the evening of the first day. Perucchini, an Italian painter born in Ethiopia in 1995, draws on early Italian Renaissance painting, African wax print textiles, ancient Greek mythology and Ethiopian church frescoes. His figurative scenes place youthful, inscrutable characters in compositions dominated by jewellike hues and glowing moons or suns, evoking solitude, partnership, light and darkness outside any familiar historical chronology.
