About
"Muscle Memory" is a joint exhibition project at the Copperfield gallery in London, hosted together with galleries from Stockholm, Milan, Beijing and Shanghai and curated by Copperfield. It explores what is passed on through action rather than words or recorded history: the gestures, skills, mannerisms and dances handed down generation to generation. Works include Anna Gonzalez Noguchi's intimate pieces carrying her grandfather's orchid tradition, Rafal Zajko's ceramic relief made from his grandmother's sewing machine, Li Li Ren's sculpture about breath, Narges Mohammadi's video of sifting flour from sand, Aziza Kadyri's patchwork tapestry on needlework, and Luana Vitra's sculptures of iron and copper as a mineral memory. The exhibition runs weekly, Wednesday to Saturday from 12 to 6pm.
