About

Stop the Bleed Training is a free hands-on workshop teaching members of the public how to respond to life-threatening bleeding before emergency services arrive. It is run by the Hunterian Museum at the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and no previous medical knowledge or experience is needed. Participants learn to recognise severe bleeding and to manage it using simple techniques such as applying direct pressure, packing a wound and applying a tourniquet, practising these skills to build confidence for a real emergency. After the training session, attendees get access to the Hunterian Museum to explore surgical practice from ancient times to the present day.
