About

Jesse Eisenberg's The Debut follows Mona, a meek middle-aged housewife with no stage experience who auditions for a local musical production. Julianne Moore plays Mona, with Paul Giamatti as Jerry, the biggest name in New Jersey community theatre, who works to shake her out of her self-conscious shell. As he pushes her, questions arise about where vision ends and sadism begins. As Mona comes to fully inhabit her character, she grows increasingly untethered from reality.
