About

Shelter from the Storm: An Artist's Eye with Stan Allen and Polly Apfelbaum is a group exhibition at the National Academy of Design, including work by Harmony Hammond. Curated collaboratively by architect Stan Allen and visual artist Polly Apfelbaum, a married couple, it draws entirely from the Academy's collection as part of the Artist's Eye series begun in 1992. The exhibition brings together work exploring conflict, memory, and resilience, rethinking the Academy's historic holdings across landscape, abstraction, architecture, figuration, and cityscape. This anniversary edition marks the first co-curation by two National Academicians and the first curated by an architect.
