About

A theater piece told by Indigenous actors about growing up in an urban Indigenous community amid an opioid epidemic. It centers on young people in community prevention programs who face addiction at home, whose hopes collide with learning their cultures and their family's and community's misuse of alcohol and drugs. It is performed by Ikidowin Theater Ensemble, a group from Minneapolis whose members tell stories of their own lives, some having joined as young as eleven. A recurring question runs through it: can one spirit tell another what to do?
