About
'Langsames Chaos' is a special exhibition about chaotic systems. It presents research by the University of Zurich's Institute of Mathematics on the subject. For mathematicians, chaos is not merely disorder but follows rules, and it can be fast or slow, with butterflies and the weather also connected to it. The exhibition draws on the ingenious tricks of mathematics and the achievements of UZH professor Corinna Ulcigrai, who herself found inspiration in the work of various women mathematicians. Visitors can try a neat mathematical trick themselves, using the unfolding of a billiard ball's path to reach a straight line, and guided tours are also available.
