Sogar Theater presents «Walwerdung», a music-theatre version of the novel of the same name by Iris Keller. The piece, written and performed by Iris Keller, directed by Ruth Huber and with live music by Rosanna Zünd, is performed in High German. While a new human being grows inside her belly, a woman transforms herself into a whale – a monologue unfolding as a body-bursting trip into her own interior and the depths of threatened oceans. Between whale song, birth pain and the hum of the breast pump, it tells of bodily change, vulnerability and feminist anger, asking how parenthood can be conceived today in a world out of balance.
